GoldVolks is about the gold reserves every country keeps as security for its citizens in times of economic crisis, war or famine. Each gold reserve of 97 countries are officially known. Based on those amounts divided through the population of each country, Alicja Kwade created 97 necklaces out of solid gold. Depending on the reserve, every pendant has a different size. This way the theoretical ownership of gold of each inhabitant becomes visible. During the course of the performance, some necklaces will be worn by a citizen of their country, while others will be shown in a display case. GoldVolks is realized in cooperation with goldsmith's atelier Georg Hornemann.
